National 18′s League Race Report
8 National 18′s made the trip to Aghada for the Dognose Trophy last Saturday. Also joining them were two 5o5′s, a laser and an RS100. The course took boats from No 8 to Dognose with a long run down to No 16 before beating to No 9 and setting off on a fast reach to Aghada. Ewen Barry and Dion Barrett in a 5o5 retained the trophy they won last year.

Racing continued Saturday with the famous Dognose Trophy that finishes in Aghada where the fleet was met with a BBQ and hydration fluids.

I can only start by thanking everyone who made the effort to make it to the event this year, we had people come from far and near and because as we all know without them an event like this cannot happen, so thanks again to all. The practice race, was on Sunday the 24th of July and all 52 boats made it to the first start of the practice day, the largest number of National Eighteens ever to compete for one start line, in the history of Class Championships ever, the practice race was raced about half a mile south of Roches Point. Colin Chapman Wins the National 18 Championships
The Cork Harbour Trophy for the best overall at the National 18 National Championships was won by Colin Chapman The results are here. Colin Barry won the Cock of the North which is awarded for the best 4 of the first 5 races of the National 18 Championships. Results for the Cock are here. Colman Garvey had a convincing win in the classics division with his beautifully prepared “Nimrod”. “Nimrod” won 6 of the 7 races completed and had a perfect score of 6 points after the discard.
