“The Great Motorboat Tour” visits West Cork

Film-maker John Boyle and cameraman Fionn Crow Howieson have recently completed a circumnavigation of Britain and Ireland aboard a Sealine S34 motorboat. Dubbed “The Great Motorboat Tour”, their exploits have been documented in Motor Boats Monthly magazine over the past few issues. Click here for a taster video featuring a stopover on Sherkin Island. Motor Cruise Fun Day – 17th July

Returning back to base for 18:00 for food in the club restaurant and prize giving. The agenda is nothing strenuous on either you, your crew or your boat.A chart plotter/charts/compass, and a pair of binoculars may help on somethings. A digital camera (or mobile) is ESSENTIAL, as is a fun loving and energetic crew. We suggest you bring your own towels and packed lunch for the beach.   Royal Cork Yacht Club Admiral, Paddy McGlade, was one of the many members of the yachting fraternity who joined in the Motor Boats “Cruise in Company” to Kinsale last weekend. Blue skies and sunshine were the order of the day in an event organised by Peter Kiernan, Motor Cruiser Captain and the Cruising Committee.

Calling all Motor Cruiser and RIB owners

As part of the “At Home” activities this weekend, a Treasure Hunt has been organised for all Motor Boats and Ribs on Sunday morning. There will be a short briefing in the club bar at 11.30hrs and all boats are expected back at the club not later than 13.30hrs. A short quiz will wrap up proceedings with prizes being presented at 17.00hrs. We would love to see as many Motor Boats and RIBS as possible taking part in this fun event – an added attraction will be the arrival of the “Independence of the Seas” Cruise ship into Cobh before lunchtime. Motor Cruise in Company a great sucess!

Fresh easterly winds saw last Sunday’s Motor Cruise in Company head upriver to Blackrock Castle and back to East Ferry rather than the planned run to Kinsale. Twelve Motor Cruisers and over fifty members made the trip with Darren McGrath and Alan Barton of HM Yachts on hand to help out when required. Quite a number of “Sailing members” joined as crew including Admiral Mike MacCarthy and Rear Admiral of Cruising Pat Lyons. Full marks, yet again, to Motor Cruiser Captain Brendan Cronin for organising the event.
